Mildew muses on various topics

Hectic Few Days. Mildew has spent a hectic few days in Kent and has returned home extremely tired with still a lot to do in the flat etc. As a result the photo arrangements will have to be postponed till tomorrow or Wednesday. They include two more sanctuaries, with at Tenterden a picture of the original layout of the sanctuary. You must wait for this Gem.
This week from Mgr. Lofty. This weeks efforts from the venerable Lofty include not only the usual article in the "Catholic Times" but also a letter in the PILL.
The letter is rather difficult to fathom out but refers to a remark made by Bishop McMahon at the recent LMS Mass which someone had objected too the previous week. I think it was about the possibility of the influence of the New Rite on the Old Rite (which the Bishop correctly played down). This inflamed the good Mgr who then launched an attack on the members of the LMS.
In his article the Mgr turned his attention to the Code of Canon Law which he did not think much of. Why ? He claims that the new codes instead of being inspired by the Spirit of Vat 2 in being centred on the People of God, turned the clock back to the old hierarchical approach of the old Code and "step by step changed the new approach beyond recognition with obvious singularity of purpose" Presumably Basil wants to have laws perhaps made up by the laity and not by the Pope and Bishops ? He calls the "Old Church" the "Church of Primacy".
He concludes by admitting his articles have annoyed many of those writing to the Paper but intends to continue along present lines. He will not be celebrating (like me) his Gold Jubilee next year but will wait until his Diamond Jubilee or beyond. (What arrogance!). He tells us that in spite of all the spirit of Vatican 2 lives on despite the views of those who have made comments.

Have you seen the recent videos posted on St Mary Magdalen's Blog (link to mine) On Friday there was a video clip of the entrance procession of a solemn Mass celebrated by Cardinal Roger Mahoney of Los Angeles, complete with dancing girls and the waving of huge palms as if he were some kind of Pharoah accompanied by dreadful music. Well worth looking at together with an ealier one on a "Puppet Mass".

Have you tried out the adult homework quiz being provided by the Torygraph at the moment. For instance can you distinguish betwen the following gramatical forms (or better literary forms) LITOTES HAPAX LEGOMENOM AND SYNECDOCHE. ? Answers tomorrow. If you have already seen these, I think they gave a wrong answer to one of them.

Have you seen ? a couple of
